Vow Workout Report
Vow breezed a half-mile this morning at Churchill Downs with jockey Miguel Mena in the irons. She breezed in company with Anna Volante and Anneau d’Or, who was second in the 2019 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile. Vow covered the ground in 48.20 seconds, ranking 13th out of 105 for the day.
Today’s breeze was designed for Vow to sit behind her company and take dirt, also known as “dirt schooling.” This was her first time to receive kickback and Mena said that Vow wasn’t very happy with the dirt in her face, causing her to not finish the work as strong as she has been.
Miguel says our 2-year-old filly is a horse who wants to be up front and has enough gate speed to do so, therefore, he isn’t too concerned about today’s experience. Please enjoy this video from Vow’s work this morning and hear what Miguel had to say about dirt schooling.
