HORSE OVERVIEW
Speedy and sporty. Headed to the Golden State and trainer Dan Blacker, who conditions the impressive Straight No Chaser for MRH.
BREEZE AND PHYSICAL
This chestnut miss zipped through a determined :10 flat breeze while demonstrating the low head carriage that many of the good Candy Rides possess. She galloped out in :11 flat and :23 4/5 and did everything that was asked of her. She’s built like a rocket; not the biggest, but extremely well balanced with a strong hip and nice overstep walk. The Feb. 21 foal looks like the type who can win early sprinting, but stretch out and carry that speed going forward.
PEDIGREE
Candy Ride should need little introduction—he’s the sire of no fewer than 17 Grade I winners, including Horse of the Year Gun Runner, champion juveniles Shared Belief and Game Winner and top-class fillies like Separationofpowers and Ollie’s Candy. Candy Ride has two expected starters in this year’s GI Kentucky Derby. He’s also emerging as a serious broodmare sire thanks to last year’s champion 3-year-old colt Epicenter and 2022 GI Frizette S. heroine Chocolate Gelato.
The filly’s dam Alliford Bay (City Zip) could really run herself. She was a debut winner and six-time stakes winner. Second dam Valentine Fever (Stormin Fever) was a stakes scorer both sprinting and routing as a sophomore before finishing second in a graded Kentucky Oaks prep. Valentine Fever’s daughter Venus Valentine (Congrats) one-upped mom, annexing the 2016 GII Rachel Alexandra S. to qualify for the Oaks.
TRAINER
Southern California-based conditioner Dan Blacker’s most accomplished trainee to date is the talented Grade I winner Hit the Road, but his most recent runner for MyRacehorse has certainly been another success story. Straight No Chaser, a 2-year-old sales value buy himself, was a streaking debut winner on the Del Mar grass last summer. Subsequently graded stakes-placed, he most recently romped by 7 1/4 lengths in an Oaklawn allowance, and recently returned to a 7 1/2 length victory in the G3 Maryland Sprint S., earning a 107 Beyer Speed Figure – the highest achieved at six furlongs this year. Blacker, whose wife Christina is a prominent TV personality, had his best year yet in 2022 and looks to be continuing that momentum this term.

Offering Update 9/27/2023: Alliford Bay 21
Alliford Bay 21 was acquired on 4/28/23 and has been owned by the Series since then. All training and care costs have been billed to the Series. Alliford Bay 21 spent the Spring at Peacefield Farms in Southern California before transitioning to Dan Blacker’s barn in Del Mar this Summer. She had her first work on September 9th and has had two additioanl works since (one was missed by Equibase). If all continues to go well she could debut in the next few months.
