Stay Fabulous Race Recap
Stay Fabulous definitely received an education today in her racing debut at Keeneland. The 2-year-old filly broke well under Ricardo Santana from Post 3 and was keen early, but shortly after the start of the six-furlong race found herself in between runners with rivals also in front of her who were throwing kick-back from the main track into her face. When a horse to her outside angled over during the backstretch run, it appeared that Stay Fabulous lost focus and momentum and subsequently lost ground. She wasn’t able to make inroads on the leaders while being asked in earnest by Santana around the far turn. She finished sixth, beaten a total of 11 3/4 lengths by the winner, Jersey Pearl, in the 10-horse field of maidens.
The daughter of Violence should come away with plenty of valuable lessons from today’s experience. We will check in with the Asmussen barn and report back on how the filly exited this first step on her racing journey.
