HORSE OVERVIEW
Hailing from the first crop of the very talented Yaupon–whose first yearlings have been extremely popular at the sales thus far–this handsome colt will be heading to Yaupon’s very own Hall of Fame trainer Steve Asmussen after being acquired by MyRacehorse for $365,000 at Fasig-Tipton Saratoga.
A Feb. 5 foal, this bay is well balanced with a strong shoulder and complementary hip. He has a fluid overstep walk and overall athletic build and presence. He acts like a true professional as well.
It never hurts when a Hall of Famer immediately reaches out to say how much he liked your purchase, and that’s what Steve Asmussen did after seeing that MyRacehorse had signed the ticket for this one. Asmussen, who will eventually add this guy to his already sizable roster of MRH trainees, also conditioned the brilliantly fast Yaupon, whose signature win came in the 2021 G1 Forego S. over a very accomplished field. The son of Uncle Mo was the buzz stallion at last year’s breeding stock sales, and has remained very popular with buyers of yearlings this term.
This colt is the first foal from a member of the late, great Street Cry (Ire)’s final crop. Street Cry was of course the sire of two of the greatest female racehorses of all time, Zenyatta and Winx (Aus) as well as champion 2-year-old and G1 Kentucky Derby winner Street Sense. Street Cry has been an exceptional broodmare sire as well–he sired the dams of no fewer than 26 highest-level winners worldwide, including MyRacehorse’s first Grade 1 winner Street Band.
The rest of this colt’s pedigree page is littered with stakes winners. This very deep female family traces back to the likes of 1962 champion 2-year-old filly Smart Deb.
Spanxamillion ‘23 will have his early lessons at Ciaran Dunne’s Wavertree Stables in Ocala, FL before looking to add to Asmussen’s ever-growing win total, which is already the highest in racing history.
