Seize the Grey Workout Report

Seize the Grey was back on the work tab yesterday morning at Oaklawn Park, breezing a razor-sharp five furlongs in :59.60. Trainer D. Wayne Lukas couldn’t be happier with the way your three-year-old colt has trained since his comeback race including yesterdays work. Lukas is debating a few different paths for your son of Arrogate. Instinctually, he feels your colt would benefit from one more race going a mile before getting the acid test against some of the top three-year-old males. On Mar. 23, the $200,000 Hot Springs Stakes will take place at Oaklawn going a flat mile against straight three-year-olds. This will cut the next race close timing-wise in regards to getting sufficient Derby points, as the G1 Bluegrass S. falls two weeks later and the G3 Lexington S. three weeks after the Hot Springs Stakes but Lukas feels he needs this second race under his belt.

We’ll remain in touch with the Lukas barn over the next two weeks and will report back with an official plan follow his next and potentially final work.
