Phantom Ride Race Recap

It was a tough beat for Phantom Ride in today’s third race at Churchill Downs, with him falling only a neck short. Your colt WAS claimed out of today’s race. This didn’t come as a huge shock given his return to the claiming ranks after his three race win streak, but it was where he needed to be spotted to win and while he ran a winning race today, he still came up short.

Phantom Ride broke alertly and was able to sit a perfect trip in the pocket while third. It was a pretty straightforward journey after that saving ground along the rail. Keith was able to angle him out at the top of the stretch and they had every opportunity to pass the game leader and eventual winner #7 Man In The Can, but were denied.

We have had quite the journey with Phantom Ride and to sit here today and say he won on five occasions for us would have been hard to predict at any point in his 3-year-old campaign. We thank the Asmussen team for all their hard work and an excellent job with him.
