MyRacehorse and renowned bloodstock agent Dennis O’Neill teamed up to land this filly by first crop stallion Mo Town after her smooth and effortless breeze at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale. The filly completed her 1/8th of a mile breeze in 10.1 seconds with a massive stride and great acceleration; it was truly poetry in motion.
She’s already in training with two-time Kentucky Derby winning training Doug O’Neill in California with an eye on getting her career started later this summer/early fall.
Bloodstock agent Dennis O’Neill noted that this filly was probably his favorite filly in the sale and that she reminds him a lot of Gomo, a Grade 1 winner that he picked out and that Doug trained. Coincidentally, Gomo was sired by Uncle Mo, the sire of this filly’s dad Mo Town.
Breeding Insights
First-crop sire Mo Town, a son of stallion phenom Uncle Mo, wasted no time in turning heads with his initial 2-year-olds to reach the races, which includes Mr. Gordy, an impressive on-debut winner of a Maiden Special Weight at the prestigious Keeneland meet in April.
Any son of Uncle Mo will garner respect in the breeding shed, particularly one such as Grade 1 winner Mo Town, who has an accomplished race record. Uncle Mo has proven to be one of North America’s most prolific producers of top-class runners, a list that includes 79 stakes winners, among them Kentucky Derby winner Nyquist. Further enhancing Mo Town’s bloodlines is Mo Town’s dam, Grazie Mille, a daughter of the exceptional broodmare sire Bernardini.
Mo Town’s elite pedigree comes with a solid race record to boot, and one that saw him win four races from 10 starts with earnings topping $500,000. He’s a dual-surface graded winner with victories in the Grade 1 Hollywood Derby on the turf as a 3-year-old and the Grade 2 Remsen Stakes on the dirt as a 2-year-old.
Standing alongside his father at Ashford Stud in Kentucky, Mo Town commanded a stud fee of $7,500 in 2022.
This filly’s dam, Toasty, comes from the influential Danzig line on her sire’s side and is a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Army Mule. Toasty, who was unraced, has produced seven winners, including stakes-placed runners, Shazier and Victory Arch.
