HORSE OVERVIEW
A top turf miler against either sex, Got Stormy has flaunted her talent in Grade 1 races around the country for the last four years. Now this durable racemare is joining the MyRacehorse stable while remaining in the care of her Hall of Fame trainer Mark Casse.
A 6-year-old daughter of Get Stormy, this mare was recently acquired by Spendthrift Farm for $2,750,000 at Fasig Tipton’s Kentucky Fall Mixed Sale. In an agreement with Spendthrift Farm, MyRacehorse has acquired the lease-to-race rights for Got Stormy’s 2021 racing campaign. To learn more about the leasing process and how it will affect your investment, we’ve put together a handy guide here
This terrific racemare has thus far won more than $2 million in purse earnings and sports a solid record of 10-5-3 from 26 career starts. She is a winner of five graded stakes, including the 2019 Grade 1 Fourstardave Handicap at Saratoga Race Course, in which she defeated males, and the 2019 Matriarch Stakes at Del Mar.
Also part of her stellar eight-race campaign in 2019 was a victory in the De La Rose Stakes and a game runner-up finish against males in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Mile, where she was beaten by another superior racemare in Uni. Got Stormy also was second against males in the Grade 1 Woodbine Mile.
Got Stormy had another robust and productive campaign in 2020, collecting wins in the Grade 3 Kentucky Downs Ladies Sprint Stakes and the Grade 3 Buffalo Trace Franklin County Stakes at Keeneland. In her bid to defend her title in this year’s Fourstardave, Got Stormy had to settle for the runner-up honors, but finished ahead of turf stars, Uni, Without Parole, and Raging Bull. She also accounted for a narrowly beaten runner-up placing while facing males in the Grade 1 Frank E. Kilroe Stakes at Santa Anita.
2021 Race Campaign
Got Stormy won her seasonal debut on February 27, 2021 at Gulfstream Park in the Grade 3 $125,000 Honey Fox Stakes. Got Stormy’s gross earnings from the race were $75,175 (MyRacehorse portion is $38,339.25). Earnings will be applied towards the Got Stormy series.
BC Mile Recap
Got Stormy gave it her all today in the $2 million Breeders’ Cup Mile at Del Mar, but it wasn’t enough to secure a top placing in the stellar field of turf runners. Got Stormy finished fifth, beaten 2 1/2 lengths, in the 13-horse field after a perfect trip under Tyler Gaffalione. The 6-year-old raced […]
