Desire Street 19 (outside) worked three furlongs this morning with jockey Adam Beschizza in the irons. He worked in company with Midnight Hurricane, an unraced 2-year-old by Midnight Storm. The duo covered the ground in 36:60.

Adam talked very highly of our 2-year-old colt after the breeze, saying he has a lot of speed and is a “pocket rocket.” He added that he felt a lot of talent underneath of him today and feels that Desire Street 19 could develop into a nice horse.

Right now, however, Desire Street 19 gets strong and wants to do too much, as seen in his recent works. Trainer Cherie DeVaux wants to see him relax in his breezes, instead of trying to run off and overwork himself. Moving forward, we can expect to see most of Desire Street 19’s works with jockeys aboard, which should benefit him.

DeVaux – a former assistant for Chad Brown – is a trainer known for developing 2-year-olds very patiently. So we know Desire Street 19 will get all the time and attention he needs.

Please enjoy this video of Desire Street 19 galloping out of the gates yesterday at Trackside Training Center. In the early stages of gate schooling, the goal is to get a horse comfortable with walking in the gates, standing quietly and galloping out. His speed out of the gates will gradually increase with training, but Desire Street 19 is handling the gates very well.

Desire Street 19 is scheduled to breeze on Sunday. We will follow up with a workout report.

Desire Street 19 (outside) worked this morning at Trackside Training Center in company with Midnight Hurricane, an unraced 2-year-old colt by Midnight Storm. The duo breezed 3-furlongs in 36 seconds, which was the bullet for the day out of 13.

Our Speightstown colt has become competitive in his breezes and wants to do more than what is being asked. Cherie DeVaux’s assistant, Pearl, says that Desire Street 19 is mentally ready to do more and could easily beat his workmates by open lengths if allowed. However, DeVaux likes for horses to stay together during breezes along with the concept of gradually increasing speed with the babies.

Pending no setbacks, Desire Street 19’s first start will likely come this winter at Fair Grounds. Please enjoy this video from Desire Street 19’s work this morning.
