Cable Boss breezed three furlongs last Wednesday with the dynamic scope. A mild inspiratory noise was heard during the work but the tie-back remains well abducted and it was stable during the exam which tells us he is getting his air. There was moderate axial deviation of the aryepiglottic folds during the breeze and gallop out.

Dr. John Madison of Ocala Equine comments on the report were as follows, “The tie back is stable and is holding. The aryepiglottic folds are deviating axially into the lumen causing the inspiratory noise. If the horse appears to be having problems getting his air, wedges of the aryepiglottic folds can be removed via laryngotomy.” MyRacehorse’s resident veterinarian, Dr. Jeffery Berk, also reviewed the scope and report, agreeing with Dr. Madison comments.

At this time, Cable Boss has been cleared to continue as normal. This is something both veterinarians believe needs to monitor as the intensity and demand increase in his workouts to ensure there are no changes in the function of his airway.

Cable Boss had his first breeze back this morning at Bridlewood Farm. He went an easy quarter in 27.40 and galloped out three furlongs in 40 seconds flat. As a precaution he was scoped following the work which returned clean. Pending all continues well out of the work, Cable Boss will remain on a weekly work schedule at Bridlewood for the short term.

Cable Boss continues to do well as his training increases according to Bridlewood Farm trainer Meda Murphy. The son of Quality Road is back galloping one mile and one-eighth daily and could possibly be ready to have his first breeze after another two weeks of galloping. Enjoy the video of him on the track this morning.

Cable Boss is now back to jogging at Bridlewood Farm after having to receive a short break due to sore shins. Farm manager Meda Murphy is hoping to have him back galloping sometime next week.

Cable Boss has returned to the track at Bridlewood Farm to begin jogging. He was re-scoped and everything healed as we had hoped.

We’re happy to report that Cable Boss’ post-procedure scope yesterday went well, according to Bridlewood trainer Meda Murphy. She said a small ulcer was found at the site, but this is a minor issue and can easily be treated with throat spray and medication. Cable Boss will have a follow-up scope next week.

We are happy to report that Cable Boss has arrived back to his home at Bridlewood Farm in Ocala, Florida following his throat surgery. Veterinarian Dr. Kent Cantrell reported that the surgery went well and that Cable Boss was doing well post-op. We will rescope Cable boss at the two-week and 30-day marks to ensure that the surgery site is healing properly. Cable Boss will be hand-walked for 30 days before returning to light training, pending both re-examinations are satisfactory.

Cable Boss had his second three furlong work last week over the Bridlewood dirt track. The son of Quality Road covered the ground in 40:00 seconds with a dynamic scope recording throughout the work. Dr. Adam Lusk of Ocala Equine hospital preformed the dynamic scope which revealed that the colt was unable to fully abduct the left arytenoid at any point during the examination and that there is a typical dynamic collapse of the left arytenoid during the breeze and gallop out. Dr. Lusk’s treatment of choice would be a laryngoplasty (tie back) and laser Ventitulocordectomy. Our in house veterinarian’s Dr. Berk and Dr. Hunt also reviewed the footage and agreed with Dr. Lusk’s suggestion for the surgery. Cable Boss is scheduled for surgery tomorrow.

We will be sure to report back once we have an update.

Cable Boss (inside) worked three furlongs over the weekend at Bridlewood Farm going in company. The 2-year-old son of Quality Road covered the ground in 39.00 seconds. Now that he has moved up to three furlongs the plan is to perform the dynamic scope during his next work.

Cable Boss continues to train well over the Bridlewood training track in Ocala, Florida. While today marks, one week since his last work there has been a significant amount of rain fall in the area, resulting in sloppy track conditions. Cable Boss will work again once the track conditions become suitable for a speed work. Bridlewood Farm trainer Meda Murphy would like to see him work one more time before estimating a shipping timeline for Cable Boss to head to trainer Brendan Walsh.
