Cable Boss breezed three furlongs last Wednesday with the dynamic scope. A mild inspiratory noise was heard during the work but the tie-back remains well abducted and it was stable during the exam which tells us he is getting his air. There was moderate axial deviation of the aryepiglottic folds during the breeze and gallop out.
Dr. John Madison of Ocala Equine comments on the report were as follows, “The tie back is stable and is holding. The aryepiglottic folds are deviating axially into the lumen causing the inspiratory noise. If the horse appears to be having problems getting his air, wedges of the aryepiglottic folds can be removed via laryngotomy.” MyRacehorse’s resident veterinarian, Dr. Jeffery Berk, also reviewed the scope and report, agreeing with Dr. Madison comments.
At this time, Cable Boss has been cleared to continue as normal. This is something both veterinarians believe needs to monitor as the intensity and demand increase in his workouts to ensure there are no changes in the function of his airway.
