Carrothers Race Recap
Carrothers didn’t live up to expectations today as the heavy favorite in a field of seven at Presque Isle Downs and finished fifth. Despite a perfect trip under jockey Antonio Gallardo, who won aboard the gelding in September over the same surface, Carrothers crossed the finish line 4 1/4 lengths behind the winner, Goodie Goomer, in the mile and 70-yard race.
Carrothers was in the perfect spot early, not too far off a very pedestrian pace in the mile and 70-yard race, but failed to kick on when asked by Gallardo and faded in the lane while again experiencing issues with changing his leads.
We will check in with trainer Kent Sweezey to see how the 4-year-old came out of today’s effort and we will report back.
