Boppy Race Recap

Boppy finished third in today’s maiden special weight at Horseshoe Indianapolis, beaten by 7 3/4 lengths. Similarly to her last race at Ellis Park, your filly did not show enough early speed and was forced to settle in fourth behind the leaders. With a moderate pace (:24.75 for the first quarter and :48.78 for the half-mile), Fernando de la Cruz made an early move but the daughter of Blame did not fire as expected.

With the race being taken off the turf, Boppy did not seem as comfortable on the dirt and was unable to quicken in the stretch once she got in the clear. This was a disappointing effort as we thought she had enough quality to win against this field and we’ll discuss with trainer Brad Cox of a plan moving forward. She will likely return on the turf next time out at Belterra Park or Horseshoe Indianapol
