HORSE OVERVIEW
Speedy looking son of Triple Crown winner American Pharaoh to soak in the Southern California sun. The colt is a brother of two-stakes winners and will be trained by Mark Glatt.
MyRacehorse and Muir Hut Stables partnered to land this son of 2015 Triple Crown winner American Pharoah for $300,000 at the 2022 Keeneland September yearling sale. The colt looks to possess the qualities (strong frame, good bone, and nice hip) to have a lot of speed and be precocious early on in his racing career. That withstanding he does have some growing days ahead to fill into his frame and become a well-balanced older horse, which is a positive in a young developing horse. This colt’s family already has deep ties to successful racing in Southern California where his sire American Pharoah was stabled and his dam Kindle was a successful stakes performer on all surfaces.
American Pharoah’s progeny have started to pick it up on the dirt in 2022 with the likes of As Time Goes By, American Theorem, and MRH’s own Forbidden Kingdom all scoring stakes wins in Southern California. Unlike many of American Pharoah offspring this colt has the looks of a true dirt horse much like those mentioned above.
The colt will receive his initial training in Ocala, Florida this winter before heading west to Mark Glatt’s barn in the Spring of 2023.
Breeding Insights
This colt’s sire American Pharoah became racing’s first Triple Crown winner in 37 years with his brilliant performances in the 2015 Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes, and Belmont Stakes. An earner of $8.6 million on the track, American Pharoah put the finishing touches on his stellar racing career with a victory in the Breeders’ Cup Classic. Those accomplishments led him to being named Horse of the Year and champion 3-year-old male. As a 2-year-old, his electrifying wins in the Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity and Grade 1 Front Runner Stakes earned him an Eclipse Award as champion 2-year-old male.
In the breeding shed, American Pharoah was quick to pass on his brilliance to his progeny. In 2019, his first crop of horses reached the races and were a hit on both sides of the Atlantic and in Japan and featured Four Wheel Drive, the winner of the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint.
American Pharoah earned the honor of being recognized as the 2019 North American leading freshman sire. Underscoring his popularity in the breeding shed, a daughter of American Pharoah became the highest-priced filly to ever sell at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale when the gavel fell at $8.2 million in 2019.
He is now the sire of 27 stakes winners, including four Grade 1 winners in 2022 as of mid-September. His progeny are proving to be proficient on both dirt and turf while sprinting and routing, making him a very desirable stallion in the eyes of breeders. He is the sire of one of MyRacehorse’s top runners, Forbidden Kingdom, a two-time graded stakes winner in 2022.
This colt’s dam, Kindle, was a very productive racehorse and won on debut as a 3-year-old. She went on to become a stakes winner as well as earning placings in graded competition. The daughter of Indian Charlie — the father of top racehorse and sire Uncle Mo — wasted no time proving her worth in the breeding shed and currently has two winners from as many to race. Both of these runners, Palazzi and Made in America, are stakes winners with more than $400,000 in earnings between them, with the former also being graded stakes-placed. Dipping further into this female family, fourth dam Play it Safe was a champion 2-year-old in France and a Group 1 winner.
