A Day to Remember Update
A Day to Remember returned to training following his career debut but has not moved along as expected according to trainer Mark Glatt. Your colt was further evaluated by veterinarian Sarah Birch who diagnosed the beginning of a condylar fracture in his left hind ankle. The good news is that it was caught in time and that it does not require a surgical intervention. Unfortunately, this means that A Day to Remember will need 30 to 45 days out of training before being re-evaluated. The son of American Pharoah will ship to Sunshine Farm in Bradbury (close to Santa Anita) for his R&R and will remain on stall-rest until mid-September. He will then undergo a PET-Scan that will determine if he is ready to return to training at Santa Anita.
This of course is disappointing considering his debut and the potential we think he has, but we are glad to know we caught this early and is very minor at the moment. Time off, especially for 2-year-olds, is never a bad thing and we look forward to seeing him back in action before the year ends.
